Victorian Curriculum

When we measure spelling against the Victorian Curriculum: English, we are usually looking at the content descriptors for Writing: Phonics and Word Knowledge for each level. However, as spelling plays such an important part in a person’s ability to decode and encode text, there are also references to spelling and word recognition in Reading and Viewing:Language: Phonics and Word Study, Writing: Literacy: Creating Texts, and Speaking and Listening: Language: Phonics and Word Study, especially at lower levels.

When selecting a lesson for your student/s, always cater to ability rather than expected age/year level: these lessons are purposely quite generic and not too “kiddy”. They will cater to learners of all ages without infantilising them.
